Occam's Lamp

When I came back from vacation, I noticed that the lamp on my piano was not working. So for the past few days I've procrastinated about getting a replacement light bulb. It's a special sort of bulb, so I would have to unscrew it, take it to Target or maybe even the hardware store, try to match it, ugh! Complicated!

Well, today while I was vacuuming, I noticed that . . . it wasn't plugged in. Yup. The bulb is fine.

This happens frequently. I think something is wrong, so I develop a complicated plan A along with plans B and C, and then it turns out to be a non-issue. "Don't worry, be happy" is a mantra that doesn't work all of the time, of course. But sometimes it does help to check the outlet before creating elaborate solutions.
